kudos to stipe for the neutral milk hotel shout-out. and for letting the world see him totally rock out like just another concert-goer. the people are the starts are the people.
yeah.
this is it.
and we get to watch him zen out, confess, render his self transparent concerning what could otherwise be a big, bad, demonic case of bono envy. dude stops mimetic rivalry in its tracks (or at least renders it non-destructive).
i'm gonna learn to rock out too.

I've seen a few other video clips and interviews in the past few weeks (strange how things coalesce) and have been struck by his graciousness and humility with regards to himself and those around him. Happy to see this one as well.
"Iconoclasts" has turned out to be such a great new show. clip-worthy moments like this abound in its various episodes. one of my favourites was the pairing of Maya Angelou with Chapelle.
one of the saddest things i read was smth my cousin wrote about his work with the band Cool Hand Luke. he said that although he "does" music (via the band) he doesn't really listen to music anymore. the beauty of this clip is that stipe still LISTENS to music; he's still someone's fan.
